Suvigya Awasthy is an Equity Partner at PSL Advocates & Solicitors, New Delhi, and leads the commercial arbitration and white-collar criminal defense practice at the firm. He brings extensive experience in advising and representing domestic and international clients, including major public institutions, across a wide spectrum of complex disputes in various industry sectors. His expertise lies in domestic and international commercial arbitration, enforcement of awards, commercial litigation, insolvency and bankruptcy disputes, investigations and criminal & economic offences defense, along with significant work in shareholder and corporate disputes, banking and financial disputes, construction and infrastructure disputes, real estate advisory and disputes, land acquisition and regulatory issues, international sale of goods, and constitutional litigation. He is a seasoned litigator who has extensively appeared before various High Courts, Tribunals, and trial courts, including commercial courts across India, as well as the Supreme Court of India and obtained urgent interim reliefs for his client(s) and strategically helped them navigate complicated matters before courts in a quick turnaround time. He has obtained interim reliefs in matters pertaining to bank guarantees, the illegal freezing of bank accounts, and securing bail(s) and the quashing of criminal complaints, among others and has several reported judgments in his name.  

He regularly represents India’s foremost industrial development and urban township corporation in the Delhi NCR in all its critical mandates before various judicial fora, including the Supreme Court of India. He has also gained hands-on experience advising and navigating clients, including developers and contractors, through the legal and regulatory landscape of a real estate project, encompassing land acquisition, project financing, environmental compliance, and other government requirements. He also appears before foreign and domestic arbitral tribunals administered by globally renowned arbitration institutions, such as the SIAC, ICC, LCIA, and DIAC, among others. Additionally, he actively advises Employers and EPC Contractors on a broad spectrum of contentious matters arising from FIDIC Yellow Book, Red Book, and Silver Book, as well as other standard form contracts in the civil infrastructure, heavy engineering, and energy sectors. He has carved a niche in advising on crucial issues throughout the lifecycle of high-speed railway infrastructure projects, including project advisory, contract and dispute management, as well as representing the Employer, an SPV of the Indian Railways, in DAB proceedings and arbitration proceedings.

Suvigya has been appointed to the India ADR committee of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR-AAA) for the 2024-26 mandate. Renowned legal directories have recognised him for his work in dispute resolution.. Suvigya holds a specialized Master of Laws in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution from the National University of Singapore, one of the world’s leading institutions in this field. Suvigya consistently contributes to the academic and legal discourse on contentious issues in his practice areas and is often engaged to speak and conduct training workshops on ADR methods. He is sincerely passionate about access to justice and pro bono advocacy, and consistently engages with civil society groups and genuine individuals in pro bono assignments, including representation work.
